I Met The Love Of My Life...

4 years ago today!!

For those of you who don't know I was a teaching assistant for a freshman leadership class. A class where students applied and I interviewed them for a spot on the Heritage Halls Council. I pretty much had my council in place with only 2 spots to fill...I wanted to fill those 2 spots with guys to even out the ratio of girls to guys.

Brett put an application in, and it wasn't very impressive, but he was 1 of only 4 male applicants I had left so I pulled him in for an interview 4 years ago today! Long story short I can't remember a word he said and couldn't even remember what he looked like. I had my boss pull up his picture and my boss indicated that I probably shouldn't choose him if he didn't stand out.

But he did stand out...in a round about way. He stood out because he didn't impress me and he stood out because I couldn't get him out of my mind, I felt like I needed to put him on the council. So I did!!

The first day of class he showed up and told me he was trying out for the baseball team and if he made it he couldn't be on the council. This made me mad, so I told him to sign up for the class and if the baseball team wanted him they could get him out of the class!

Well as you can guess he didn't make the team...he says I jinxed him because I wished him luck but said I hoped he didn't make it!! He stayed on the council and within a couple of weeks we were best friends and inseparable, I loved his personality and loved being around him! But he had this bowl haircut that made him not so attractive so we were purely just friends! (See above picture for evidence of the hair!!) Then one day he cut off all his hair and I knew things would be bad from then on! He was gorgeous!! Hiding under that hair were gorgeous blue eyes, an adorable scar on his forehead and the longest eyelashes I had ever seen!!

So I fell in love and so did he (not that he told me until I went to visit him in Cali before his mission!), we spent as much time together as possible, both went on missions, wrote a ton of letters, came home and 4 months later got married!!

4 years ago today I had no idea that my husband had just walked into my office, but I am sure glad he did! He is the sweetest, kindest, most adorable, giving person I know!!

I Love You Brett Joseph Steenblik!!
