“All great changes are preceded by chaos.” -Deepak Chopra

Change.

That is the word that describes our world completely right now. In the past 14 months this blog has been consumed with pictures of one perfect and adorable little guy. But our little family contains 3 and it is about time the world (in other words the 2 or 3 people that read this blog) get an update on our family as a whole...

About 3 weeks ago we moved apartments and we continue to try and get everything in the right place. I have a feeling we will be doing that until we start packing to leave next year after graduation.

In 3 days, for 3 months we leave. We move to Idaho, Ammon Idaho to be exact for an internship. Brett was offered a great internship at the Idaho National Laboratories (INL), not just any internship, but an internship in his chosen specialty Wireless Communications. Luckily this move isn't as scary for me as it could be, Brett's parents and his sister and her family all live there so my summer will be full of chasing Lucas and my two adorable nieces around.

With this internship comes a change for my job. I was given permission to take a leave of absence, since that time some shuffling around has happened and by the time I get back my current position won't exist. So I plan on going back, but to what I am not too sure...only time will tell.

I love my job, but it sure burns me our sometimes, so the break will be nice. My heart is torn, it is hard to leave behind New Roads because it is my second home. I love our clients and I love my co-workers. I never thought it would be tough for me to be told "you don't have to work for 3 months". But I read this quote and it made me realize I need to take time out for these very reasons...

“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.”
Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky

I hope when I come back I have new eyes, new hope and new motivation to make a change in the world of addiction, a world that breaks my heart, but has every potential to change.

Here is to a summer full of chaotic change, adventures and a much needed break!
