Steenblik Life

I figured it was time to give a little update on life.

Brett is full force back into school, but these last two semester have a smaller load for him which is very nice as the past 3 years have been so busy and time consuming for him. We get to keep him home Tuesday and Thursday mornings which is a big change and extremely nice. Brett has had a few job interviews already which is amazing as he doesn't graduate for another 7 months. We are really hoping he gets a job with GE (his first interview, and they came to him) for multiple reasons, one being it is only about 4 hours from Livermore. So prayers would be appreciated. Brett keeps busy playing on a football team and playing church ball twice a week.

I went back to work about a month ago, I work 3-4 days a week in the RTC and 1-2 days at home doing transcription for the therapists. Additionally I hope to start co-facilitating some psycho-education groups pretty soon. I'm getting some great experience and learning so much that will help me when I go on to get my Masters degree in the future. I go back to school next semester to finish up my last 3 classes, a couple of generals and an elective so I will be taking an addiction class which is very fitting. I love my job, some days are hard but the good days make up for it. The world of addiction is so complex and I have gained such humility watching people struggle and fight for change. I have realized how naive I was to addiction before I started at New Roads. The rest of my time is spent with Lucas, having play dates and doing multiple projects at once. Brett wonders if we will ever have a dining room as opposed to a cluttered craft room. I can't make any promises.

Brett's cousin John just moved to Orem which we LOVE because we get to see him about once a week now as opposed to twice a semester when he lived in SLC. He and Lucas adore each other which is perfect, plus they share the same birthday. John was amazing and took our family pictures last weekend so watch out for those, we are super excited to see them!

Life is good for us, extremely busy as we work toward graduation and making choices for the future but we couldn't be happier. We are jetting off to Europe for Christmas and we can't wait to see our family and friends. We get to go to Switzerland this time which we are super excited for, we haven't seen Brett's brother and their sons since our wedding!

Sorry no pictures this time, but the family pictures will be worth the wait!!
