As summer ends and one more year of school approaches it marks a year for many events that led to the establishment of our small Steenblik family. I thought it would be fun to do a little timeline of the events that happened this time last year...oh how time flies!

August 20th 2009 - I was still a missionary, and it was a great day for many reasons. My companion and I played a prank, a cute prank on our mission President's wife, and I took some departing missionary pictures. But the biggest event was when I got a page (yes on Temple Sq we have pagers!), I called Sister Lee back and she said sounding very confused "Sister Leoncio told me to tell you, your boyfriend is on the Sq looking for you". (Boyfriend wasn't quite the right word, but what else would you call him? haha) Luckily I knew he would be showing up sometime that day so I wasn't too surprised. Sister Gunter and I heading up to the Sq. As we walked out of the South Visitors Center I saw someone walk past a tree, I knew that walk and knew it was Brett. We laughed, A LOT, shook hands, and it was as though we had never been apart. We talked for a good hour, and had Brett share his testimony with us. As he left we knew in 10 short days when I was home our forever could start! That was a good day.

September 1st 2009 - I started the day off as a missionary, went about my assignments, did a lot of crying with the other departing Sisters, had a farewell dinner, packed up my things and headed to Provo at about 8:30pm. I was released by my former Stake President at about 10pm and then I ventured, on my own, in the dark, (scary for a missionary released for only minutes!) to the Bell Tower. I got there to find Brett sitting at the Tower's base where I have found him so many times before. We hugged for the first time, talked a lot, cuddle some and even held hands. It was so surreal, but so great all at the same time. Another good day!

September 2nd 2009 - School had started 2 days previously so I jumped right back into classes. I met Brett after my first class as we were in the same building and then I went to spend sometime with my family. That night Brett came to dinner with my family at Outback and we had a lot of fun. It was nice for my family to finally meet Brett. Later than evening Brett and I went back to his apartment and stood outside talking for quite sometime. There was so much going on for us with just getting home, school, finding jobs and our relationship that we were a little overwhelmed. I stood there with my head on his shoulder when all of a sudden he kissed me! That was a surprise!! I had barely been home 24 hours! I was a nice surprise but I was in shock for sometime and Brett says I didn't really kiss him back...haha sad! He kissed me one more time that night and I think I kissed back that time! As you can imagine that added a whole other level to things! Mmm looking back that was a great day!

September 4th 2009 - The question this day was...are we a couple? We established we don't kiss people we aren't dating, so it was official. After 3 years of patiently waiting we could finally be together! We both agree it was worth the wait! That was an amazing day!

In the next couple of months we hit the year mark of some other huge events in the life of Brett and Kymee, but I will save those for a later blog post. But this week marks a lot of firsts and a lot of great memories for us.

Today we have been married 8 months and couldn't be happier! Time flies because we love being together! Life is an adventure and Brett's sleeping habits continue to get weirder, but I love him anyway!
