C is for Crafts

I am grateful for Craft projects. I love being creative and Pinterest is like heaven to me. A few of us in our new ward started a craft night and we have done some fun projects, the above picture being one of them. One of the main reasons I am grateful for crafts is that because of these craft nights I have been able to make some great friends here. Not making friends was one of my biggest fears about moving from Utah, Utah was comfortable we had our best friends and our extended family, so it has been a great blessing to make friends and friends that share the same hobbies and interests.

It has been a while since we have had craft night, the stomach flu came to town and took everyone down so I am excited for us to get up and going again! Christmas crafts here we come!

Make This House A Home Part 2 - Ikea Hack

It is official, I have become an Ikea Hacker. By definition an Ikea Hacker is someone who takes Ikea furniture and makes it unique! Ikea furniture is great for the poor, newly married, college student that I am, it fits my budget and allows me to find things that somewhat go together. My only issue with Ikea is that everyone has it and it all looks the same.

We got this Lack Coffee table for $19.99 last week and as functional as it is, its not the cutest thing. So I got my thinking cap on and came up with a few possible ideas. Eventually I settled on Mod Podging some cute scrapbook paper onto the table top.

It took a while, but was so worth the time! I love it!

Now onto my next project....a gallery wall!

Make This Apartment A Home

With Lucas rolling everywhere and close to crawling we decided to get a new TV stand with doors. It was cute as it was but I decided to jazz it up a little. Once again thank you Hobby Lobby!

Baby Shower Creations

2010 was the year for returned sister missionaries from the Temple Square mission to get married, 2011 is the year for us all to have babies!

One of my companions Cindy is due to have a little girl in September. Every new Mumma deserves a baby shower and so myself and another mission friend Natalie are throwing one for her next month.

We are going with a vintage theme and have had a lot of fun coming up with ideas and using our love for crafts. Here is a little peek at the invitations I made with a little help from my beloved store Hobby Lobby...

Diaper Bag Love

Below is my super awesome nappy/diaper bag that I ordered from Etsy. During my search for the bag I was also looking for a wipes case, a diaper case and a travel changing pad, but it was all so expensive, I couldn't find any sets and I couldn't really find anything I liked. Not long after I ordered the bag I realized the fabric came from Ikea, so on my way back from SLC one afternoon I stopped off and picked up a yard of the fabric and attempted to make my own diaper bag accessory set...

I found a plastic wipes case at the dollar store, padded the top and with a glue gun covered it with the fabric and some ribbon to smooth out the edges, I added a green button for some color.

Next is the diaper case so they don't go flying around the bag. I had no pattern for this so was pretty impressed at how it turned out. It also has velcro to keep it closed.

Lastly we have the travel changing pad, this is the outside...Ikea also had some waterproof material so I did the other side in that in case of any accidents!

Opposite side of the changing pad.

All in all I am very happy with how it all turned out especially as I kind of made it up as I went along. I really need to work on my detailing, but so far so good!! Another project down...I think burp cloths are next and one day I will finish the bumper for the crib!

Now if only the actual diaper bag would hurry up and get here!!
